Watch Greenacres Tales: Building a Scarsdale Neighborhood

Our new video explores the unique and surprising history of the Scarsdale neighborhood known as Greenacres. Featuring local historians and residents including Barbara Shay MacDonald Randy Guggenheimer, Jordan Copeland, Leslie Chang, Jay and Marc Shulman, Andrew Sereysky and Rev. Katherine Pater. A Scarsdale Historical Society Production. Music by Marc Shulman, Directed and edited by Lesley Topping.

Upcoming: 'Greenacres Tales' Film Premiere, March 15

Our newest documentary film, ‘Greenacres Tales: Building a Scarsdale Community’ explores the people, places and events that shaped the formation of Greenacres. There will be two screenings, each with a Q&A session to follow, at the Scarsdale Public Library on Wednesday March 15th at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The film explores the streets, homes and local landmarks of Greenacres through archival photography, documents and present-day footage. The film is written and directed by Lesley Topping, an award-winning editor and filmmaker who grew up in Scarsdale.

Following the 30-minute film, there will be a Q&A session with Topping and special guests. Admission is free. The event is sponsored by the Scarsdale Public Library.

'Scarsdale On Ice' Exhibit On View Now at Scarsdale Library

We had a brrrr-illiant time at the 'Scarsdale on Ice' exhibit opening reception, thanks to all who attended. You can visit the exhibit any time this month at the Scarsdale Public Library in the Local History Center.

All Scarsdale Historical Society members—and anyone interested in joining—are cordially invited to attend the Annual Meeting. Please join us for a brief update on the activities of the Scarsdale Historical Society.

The current membership will vote to elect the following people to the Board of Trustees:

  • Class of 2025 – 2 Year Term – May Cowan

  • Class of 2026 – 3 Year Term – Karen Ceske, Seth Kaller, Dana Matsushita and Christine Weston

The continuing trustees are:

Join us for the opening of a photo exhibit celebrating Scarsdale's favorite winter pastimes through history, in partnership with the Scarsdale Living Magazine and the Scarsdale Public Library.

Trustee Leslie Chang will highlight stories and local tidbits about our rich history of ice skating, skiing, sledding and platform tennis. Through the exhibit of historic photographs, visitors will see that Scarsdalians have long enjoyed experiences shaped by snow and ice - sometimes in the most unexpected places.

‘Greenacres Tales’ Documentary Premiere

The Scarsdale Historical Society will present the first public screenings of its newest documentary film titled, ‘Greenacres Tales: Building a Scarsdale Neighborhood.’ The film explores the people, places and events that shaped the formation of Greenacres—developed as “one of the finest communities” in Westchester County. There will be two screenings, each with a Q&A session to follow, at the Scarsdale Public Library on Wednesday March 15th at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

The film is directed by Lesley Topping, an award-winning editor and filmmaker who grew up in Scarsdale.
